Artist Statement

Born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I was exposed to art from a very young age. By 11 years old, I started taking organized sketching classes. At the age of 18, I immigrated to Israel and studied at Seminar Ha'kibbutzim to became a teacher of the very young. A few years later I decided to go for interior design and studied another 3 years at "ORT". Designing in all it's forms fascinated me and I dealt in a variety of its aspects. 13 years ago I decided to devote myself to painting.

I have been living in Israel for 33 years, got married here and raising 4 daughters. Coming from a tropical, tolerant country, surrounded by a warm family I was faced here with a different reality for which I had not been prepared. This was a period of internalizing feelings and searching for independence, security and fulfilment which brought me finally to a breakthrough. I started with figurative painting. The subjects were mainly still lives and landscapes.

My paintings are often grouped in series organized around one subject, among them: Jars, birds and landscapes. Currently, I combine figurative and abstract painting.

Today I know that the combination of the two cultures and worlds have left their impressions on me and this is expressed in the colors, their depth, light and movement that burst from my creations and brings me a lot of satisfaction.
